Designed for those who wish to learn more about identifying
local wildflowers… Guided day hikes in April and May will be taken to the
Thompson Wildlife Management Area on the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains near
Front Royal, Virginia and Balls Bluff Park near Leesburg, VA. A weekend tour
with River and Trail Outfitters to the Green Ridge State Forest in western
Maryland and the Dolly Sods Wilderness area of West Virginia will give you a
look at some truly unique spring flora.
On each hike guides
offer wildflower identification checklists, information on the ecology of the
special site, and medicinal uses of spring wildflowers. The level of difficulty
is non-strenuous to moderate.
