Kayaking or Canoeing the Potomac River near Shepherdstown

Come explore our natural world, the Chesapeake Bay
Watershed. Enjoying woodland scenery, paddlers will kayak or canoe a six mile
stretch of the Potomac River, featuring mostly mellow waters, along with some
riffles and ledges. These float trips are interpretive, experiential, and
historical in nature. Paddlers and birders can observe a diversity of wildlife
along the river from turtles, fish, herons, waterfowl and the return of the
bald eagle.

This biologist-led tour along the C&O Canal
National Park, will help you to identify local flora and fauna by the river.
Protection and restoration of our local watershed will be discussed as you
learn about the human impact on our local river environment.
To prepare you for your trip, a delicious brunch will
be served at the unique
Stone
Soup, a bistro-style restaurant featuring the area's best in local, fresh
ingredients. Shepherdstown, WV is a diner's delight and offers a
mini-Georgetown atmosphere that's perfect for window shopping.

The price is $110/person and is all-inclusive. Choice
of tandem kayak or canoe or single kayak rentals, interpreter/guide, all
