Join River and Trail Outfitters in Knoxville, Maryland near Harpers Ferry, West Virginia ( only one hour from Washington DC ) for this guided kayaking / canoeing tour on the Potomac River. Evening is the perfect time to witness great blue herons, egrets, kingfishers, and the occasional eagle on the river. The trip will be for a duration of 3-6 miles, depending on water levels and sunset times. To make this trip a fun and convenient overnighter, make reservations at the Brunswick Family campground which is the launching spot for the trip. Show up a bit early to set up your tent or camper before you take off down the river.
Beach cruiser bikes rentals are also available, and peddling to Harpers Ferry or farther on the scenic, tree-lined pathway of the C&O Canal offers a great opportunity to experience more of the area before or after your trip.

Paddlers check-in Brunswick Family Campground where they will meet the guide(s) at 6pm (5:30pm on Sept 26th) and get ready to go on the river. Typical trip time is from 6:30pm-9:30pm (or 6-8:00 or 8:30pm on Sept 26th).
*River & Trail cannot guarantee that you will see the ball of the sun go down or the full moon rise depending on several factors including number of days before or after full moon, mountains, clouds, etc… however, most of our trips successfully catch site of the moon rising before the end of the trip!

From the Baltimore area:
Take I-70W to Frederick. Take Exit 52 onto 340W for 16 miles. Turn right on Valley Road at the yellow flashing lights just before the Potomac River Bridge. We are immediately on the left.
From the Washington D.C area.:
Take I-270N to Frederick. Merge with I-70W toward Hagerstown. Move to far right lane immediately. Take Exit 52 onto 340W toward Charles Town. Follow 340 for 16 miles. Turn right on Valley Road at the yellow flashing lights just before the Potomac River Bridge. We are immediately on the left.
From the Northern Virginia area:
Take the Greenway to Route 7W or get directly on Route 7W (Leesburg Pike) past Leesburg. Exit onto Route 9W toward Charles Town. Approximately 2 miles after the small town of Hillsboro, turn right onto Route 671. At the T-intersection turn right onto 340 and cross the Potomac River Bridge. Turn left at the first Maryland intersection (yellow flashing lights just past bridge) onto Valley Road. We are immediately on the left.
From the Harpers Ferry WV area:
Take 340 N, go approximately 3 miles past Harpers Ferry, crossing over the Shenandoah and Potomac River bridges into Maryland. Just after the Potomac River Bridge, turn left at the yellow flashing lights onto Valley Road. We are immediately on the left.
