This mellow section of the Potomac River has been described in National Park literature as , “one of the most beautiful stretches of navigable waterways in the mid-Atlantic.” Paddle 6 miles on our Nation’s River from Brunswick Campground to Point of Rocks, MD. Visit sand and gravel beaches, wade or go for a swim, and explore the Catoctin Creek tributary as water levels permit. The word Potomac has an Indian meaning, “trading places.” In its earlier history the area was populated by Indian villages on its bluffs and along its shores. Paddle back in time and enjoy sightings of growing bird populations led by the American Bald Eagle.
End your day at the Creek’s Edge Winery in Lovettsville, VA next to Catoctin Creek. The winery is housed in a wilderness lodge and is the perfect place to kick back and enjoy a tasting and glass of wine.
