Boat and Brew Smoketown

The 4.5 mile kayaking trip begins behind Bird Sanctuary Island, home to nesting Blue Herons and wild ducks and includes Class II+ Knoxville Falls.   After the paddle, enjoy the taste of craft beer at the New Smoketown Brewery only minutes away in Brunswick, MD.   To top the day off, enjoy the savory taste of garlic knots and gourmet white pizza from the locals’ favorite eatery.

River & Trail Outfitters has teamed up with Abolitionist Ale, in Charles Town, WV to craft a fun, festive and flavorful day where participants paddle the mellow, wilderness-surrounded Shenandoah River and then enjoy a craft beer tasting along with a personal artisan pizza.

September 7th (Saturday)

Water to Wine Big Cork

Kayak one of our favorite sections of the Potomac 5.5 Miles on mellow water interspersed with three sets of rapids. Enjoy views of great blue herons, osprey, egrets, and the occasional bald eagle. Afterwards, caravan 20 minutes to Big Cork Vineyards where you will enjoy a wine tour, tasting and cheese plate in their state of the art tasting room amid 100 rolling acres.

Antietam Kayak and Brunch

Ranked in the top 60 paddling streams in North America, Antietam Creek is a scenic stream graced with stone arch bridges. Our qualified instructor will give historical interpretation at this site and entertain you with the turbulent tales of this war so crucial to our nation’s history. To prepare you for your trip, brunch will be served at the historic Newcomer House.

Sunset Moonrise Float

Enjoy paddling by the light of the setting sun and moon rise. Experience the serenity and wildlife of the evening river. No paddling experience or equipment required on this guided 6 mile trip on the Potomac River.

Water to Wine Creeks Edge

Paddle 6 miles on this mellow section of the Potomac River, described by the National Park Service as “one of the most beautiful stretches of navigable waterways in the mid-Atlantic.” Following the paddle, the trip culminates with a visit to the Creek’s Edge Winery in Lovettsville, VA.  The winery is housed in a wilderness lodge and is the perfect place to kick back and enjoy a generous wine tasting.

Canoe or kayak 5.5 miles on the winding and scenic Potomac River from Snyder’s Landing to Shepherdstown.  On this guided paddle, enjoy watching the eagles soar above and spotting the many other birds that call this area home. End your day at the world class Bavarian Inn’s new brewery on their lovely 11 acre parcel overlooking the Potomac River.  Soak in beautiful views as you enjoy a flight of beer and your choice of appetizer.
