Brunswick Family Campground is on a secluded stretch of land between the Potomac River and the C&O Canal National Historical Park in Frederick County, Maryland, near Harpers Ferry, WV. The Canal’s scenic towpath winds past the Brunswick Campground and provides the only road access to this riverfront camping area. So sit back, and enjoy the scenic views of Short Hill Mountain, the Potomac River, great blue herons and the occasional eagle that passes by.

Camping at Brunswick is perfect for biking, hiking, boating and exploring the history of the canal.

Tent Camping Sites 

Tent camping on the Potomac is available from March 26 through November 14.  Our two major tenting areas are Nottingham Woods & Potomac Field.   These are areas where you can set your tent up anywhere within the field or wooded area.  Parking is on the perimeter of the area. Pavilions with picnic tables are often available for use and picnic tables and fire rings are scattered throughout the field and woods. 

For those who would like a camping site with their own picnic table, fire ring, and electric hook up, RV sites are available.  Also see information about our group and premium tent camping sites in the pricing area below.

Campground Train Sounds

Brunswick is a railroad town, and offers the romance and nostalgia that trains evoke.  For those sensitive to noise you will want to bring earplugs for sleeping or pick them up from the campground store.  The campground is located near the  train tracks that border the C&O Canal and some trains run at night and do change cars at the local station.

Nottingham Woods & Potomac Field

  • Set up your tent in our tenting areas which have picnic tables and fire pits located throughout.  In Potomac Field, pavilions are available for camper use, as long as the pavilion is not rented.
  • Adults $20/person  Fri & Sat,  $15/person Sun-Thurs
  • Youth 6-17 years  $10/person
  • Kids 5 & under camp free
  • Weekly (7 nights)  $85/person, $110/person during holidays

There is 2 night minimum stay on Fri & Sat for all Group & Premium sites 

Potomac Premium 1 (Riverview) & Potomac Premium 2 (Wooded)

  • $49/site Sun-Thurs, $69/site Fri-Sat, $79/site holidays & holiday weekends
  • 5 people and 2 tent maximum (no discounts)
  • Water and electric available
  • *Potomac Premium 1  walk-in campsite, approximately 100 feet
  • *Potomac Premium 2 has a parking spot into a cozy corner of the campground near our wooded cabins.

Robin’s Hood- 2 sites available

  • This site is tucked into a cozy corner of the campground near our wooded cabins.
  • $105/night for the site
  • 20 person maximum

Robin’s Hood- 2 sites available

  • $95/night for the site
  • 15 person maximum
  • These sites are up against the woods and close to our bathhouse.
  • Robin’s Hood #1 has a mini pavilion, #2 has electric

Cancellation & Payment Policy.

  • Payment is due upon making the reservation. No money refunds are given. However, you may reschedule your trip to a later date with two days notice.
  • A credit card must be on file in the case any damage occur to the cabins during your stay.

No Smoking policy

  • The cabins are smoke free.

Pet Policy

  • No pets allowed in the cabins.  They may be leashed outside if they are quiet and not prone to barking or kept in your vehicle weather permitting.

Fishing Policy

  • People 16 & older must have Maryland fishing licenses to fish in the Potomac. Licenses can be bought at Brunswick Hardware on Potomac Street in Brunswick, MD.

Quiet Hours

  • 10:00pm – 7:00am

Alcohol Policy

  • Alcohol is not permitted anywhere in the campground except within one’s cabin, RV, trailer, or tent. Those who violate this policy will be asked to leave with no refund.

Other Policies

  • No tents or RVs may be added to the cabin site.
  • Golf carts are not permitted.

Bike Rentals

Enjoy an easy bike ride on the C&O Canal with our beach cruiser style bikes. Harpers Ferry is only 6 miles one way! Ask us for a bike lock to lock up your bike and walk over the pedestrian bridge to explore the National Park and treat yourself to lunch and ice cream.

CANOE & KAYAK RENTALs

Launch from the campground on a 2 hour mellow and beautiful section of the Potomac River where great blue herons and eagles fly. Or paddle to the campground on a Saturday Guided Sunset Paddle which features light rapids!

Rent a tube and walk up river 3/4 mile and enjoy a lazy float back to the campground. Go as many times as you want. On Fri & Sat, enjoy our 3 hr Potomac Mellow Tubing trip leaving right from the Campground.
